Snakey is one of the 31 Playable Characters in the game Castle Crashers. Their magical attacks are Non-Elemental and their starting weapon is the Snakey Mace.

Snakey's specialties include advanced boss slaying, semi-knockback crowd control, basic juggling, and combo locking.

Information[]

Background[]

Snakey first appears after the player(s) have successfully killed every Skeleton during the Beefy Skeletons Fight, where they also quite possibly have killed the Peasants at the beginning of Marsh. They also are paired up with a Troll Mother and her Trolls during a little bit into the same level. Next, a couple of Snakeys are paired up with Fish Men to fend off against the player(s) advancing towards Medusa in Medusa's Lair. Finally, a Snakey appears as a resurrected enemy for the Necromancer in Necromancer's Room in Wizard Castle Interior.

Involvement[]

Snakeys serve Medusa as they attempt to stop the player(s) from advancing forward in the Medusa's Lair level; and there's also petrified Snakeys scattered in the level, meaning that some could have angered Medusa, and as a result, died petrified.

Description[]

The Snakey is not seen as a Beefy. The Snakey is known for his distinct horn, Green Knight-like color schemes bar the darker coloring and tunic, and, according to the character portrait, several bolts that aren't visibly seen in the game or in Back Off Barbarian.

Magic[]

Splash Attack

"Thorny Vines"

Element: Non-Elemental

Max Hits: 1 per upgrade level (max 7)

Damage/Hit: Base Magic Damage x 0.5

Use 360 RT360 Y / PS3 R2PS3 Triangle to perform. Thorny Vines pop out of the ground almost instantaneously in front of you, doing one hit each. Each segment adds an extra hit, with the maximum being 7 hits. Every other segments add no range, but all segments add an extra hit.

This is decent for bosses that have huge hit-boxes as the Splash Attack deals a decent amount every time it is spammed or that it delivers significantly more hits on them than say Skeleton and Cult Minion's Dark Pillars Splash Attack.

This Splash Attack is also very effective on enemies that take chain damage such as Scarabs, Fish Men, and Beefys.

The "Thorny Vines" Splash Attack, in addition to the "Saw Trap" and "Smoke Screen" Splash Attacks, boast one of the best Beefy knockdown ratios out of any Splash Attack.

Magic Projectile

"Dagger"

Element: Non-Elemental

Damage: Base Magic Damage

Use 360 RT360 B / PS3 R2PS3 Circle to perform. Throws a dagger as a Magic Projectile.

Air Projectile

"Dagger"

Element: Non-Elemental

Damage: Base Magic Damage

Use 360 A, 360 RT360 Y / PS3 Cross, PS3 R2PS3 Triangle to perform. Throws a dagger as a Air Projectile.

An advanced use of Juggling, named Spellweaving, can use this Air Projectile for flashy techniques.

Elemental Infusion

"Armor Pierce"

Element: Non-Elemental

Damage: Base Magic Damage^2 + Base Melee Damage^2

Use 360 X360 X360 X360 Y / PS3 SquarePS3 SquarePS3 SquarePS3 Triangle to perform. This attack pierces armor, and it deals two times normal damage. That means it deals as much damage to a Barbarian or Thief on Normal Mode as it does to a Stove Face or Brute on Insane Mode.

Magic Jump

"Vine Jump"

Element: Non-Elemental

Damage: Base Magic Damage

Use 360 RT360 A / PS3 R2PS3 Cross to perform. Leaps up using a vine that damages overlapped enemies and has a whip sound.

Strategy[]

Overview[]

Snakey is a good boss slayer with a good Beefy hitting ratio with his "Thorny Vines" Splash Attack. Hitting the Beefy up to knock down.

Castle Crashers[]

Capitalize on Magic as soon as possible. Weapon choice almost doesn't make a difference due to how fair the "Thorny Vines" Splash Attack is. Snakey, as well as any boss slayer in the game, bar Fire Demon and Red Knight, truly only struggles against massive amounts of enemies or a very quick heavyweight such as in Thieves' Forest and Wizard Castle Interior and Conehead Groom, respectively. Especially if the Snakey player can not utilize Juggling at all to save his/her life.

Late game, Snakey is above average. Recommended to use a Strength heavy weapon or a Magic heavy weapon that does not reduce Strength. Animal Orb selection does make a bit of difference. The top 5 Animal Orbs in Snoot, Burly Bear, Hawkster, Piggy, and BiPolar Bear will suffice.

Arena[]

Snakey is one of the best characters in Arena. "Thorny Vines" Splash Attack comes quick, which leads to easy resets, catches, and a strong middle game.

Trivia[]

  • Despite encountering a horde of Snakeys in Peasant Arena, you will not unlock Snakey. You will unlock the Peasant instead.
  • On Insane Mode, Snakeys, if holding a Snakey Mace, can Critical Strike for a whopping 999 damage, but only in the Original Versions of Castle Crashers as the Snakey Mace will instead poison in the Remastered Versions.
  • Even though Snakey's picture is robotic and has bolts on, in the actual game he does not have these lines. Some say this was to keep the designs simple as to fit the style, even though Blacksmith has lines across his mask in the actual game.
  • Snakey was a limited time only head skin in BattleBlock Theater, going by the name of "Swamp Bro".
  • Snakeys in Marsh seem to have a settlement as there's 2 houses in the level.
  • Since Snakey's starting weapon is the Snakey Mace, he, at Level 1, can switch to a different weapon and switch back to the Snakey Mace.
  • Although Snakey and Brute are slightly reskins of each other, comparing the more they are used, it’s more common for Snakey to be played in-game.
  • The alerted Snakey’s face is the same as the Necromancer’s unamused face.
  • Throughout the game, Snakeys are seen wielding Snakey Maces, Half Swords, and Playdo Pasta Makers.
