The Evil Sword is one of the 84 weapons a player can obtain in the game Castle Crashers.

DescriptionEdit

The Evil Sword, also known as the Necrotana, Necromancer's Sword, or Necromancer's Katana, is dropped by Necromancer upon his defeat in the Wizard Castle Interior level. It has the highest defense modifier of any weapon in the game. The required level to use this weapon is Level 20. This weapon is Necromancer's starting weapon. It also pairs up with Snailburt as it makes your Defense VERY high; this isn't necessarily advantageous because Defense is generally a very useless stat outside of dealing with large crowds. You need +5 Magic to receive Splash Attack range and hits, as well as faster mana regeneration, but with Beholder it only adds +2 which doesn't give additional Splash Attack range. It has no benefits to Strength or Agility. That's why this weapon is not too useful despite having a large boost to stats.

This weapon can also be obtained via the Necromantic DLC Pack for $1.99, though this only applies to the Xbox Live Arcade versions of the game. On Steam/PSN it's integrated into the game for free.

The Evil Sword was buffed (albeit indirectly) in the Remastered version. While its stats weren't changed at all, the buff to Beholder means this weapon can now benefit from Magic bonuses such as increased range, faster mana regeneration, etc. It also has an enormous boost to Defense, allowing more room for error. This makes it a much more effective choice as a weapon, due to its large boost in stats and its high Defense and Magic (if Beholder is used).

The Evil Sword can also be paired up with Snailburt or Spiny to further boost your Defense, although this isn't too recommended, as Defense is generally worse than Magic as a standalone stat (and Snailburt also reduces Agility, which is a very useful stat), so it's recommended to use Beholder instead.
